Idaho State University Continuing Education and Workforce Training hosts an annual Emergency Medicine Conference (EMC) each year. The purpose of the conference is to provide contact hours for our local and regional first responders.
The conference is an amazing animal to watch. Dozens of doctors, first responders, physical therapists, and others in the medical field present on a variety of topics. While the conference, itself, spans 2 days; a preconference takes place a day before the conference. The pre-conference typically focuses on one specific topic instead of a variety of topics. This year the pre-conference is free to attend and the limited spaces filled up quickly.
New this year will be a wilderness physical therapy track. This track will focus on what wilderness PT is and its importance in the backcountry. In places like Idaho, this can be an invaluable skill.
