It has been a little over a year since us over at Continuing Education and Workforce Training started CEWT Talk. Since our first episode on May 1, 2019, we have had a wide array of guests-- entrepreneurs, students, scientists, rabbis and priests, and everything in between. They have shared fascinating information, inspirational tales of overcoming hardship, and crazy anecdotes you couldn't find anywhere else.
We are now in the midst of our second season, and while current circumstances have made recording podcasts a little more difficult, we are still striving to give you even more amazing stories from incredible people!
We figured we would look at the past year and compile some of our favorite episodes. If you are new to CEWT Talk, this is perfect place to start. Here are 5 episodes from season 1 that you don't want to miss (in no particular order):
1. Episode 14: Glimpses of the Sacred: A Journey into Comparative Religions
Rabbi Devin talks with Jason Batalden about his transition from Southern California to Pocatello, Idaho and experiencing religious traditions outside of one's own, and how that strengthens one's own faith. Regardless of your beliefs, this episode is guaranteed to draw you in and keep you hooked.
Denell Broncho is one of our favorite people to have on the podcast, and after listening to this episode, you'll know why. Inspired by the hit show "Naked and Afraid" (except for the 'naked' part), Broncho decided to test her survival skills by seeing if she could make it in the woods. An amazing, hilarious story ensues.
3. Episode 16: Drew Aslett, just like Seinfield, does it because it is who he is
Member of the band Snakebones, Drew Aslett has been rocking for decades. In this episode, he shares a story of the opportunity of a lifetime with Gary Salazar, director of CEWT. P.S. if you stick around until the end, you'll be treated to some awesome music!
One of the most inspirational people we have had on the podcast thus far, Robert Wallace shares a brief history of his organization, Big Brother Lowriding, which teaches at-risk youth about the importance of education, respect and taking responsibility for their actions, along with some of his other humanitarian work. Wallace was nominated for a "Hometown Hero" award, and it's easy to see why.
5. Episode 26: Looking for Bats in all the Right Places
Our Halloween episode won't spook you, but it will surprise you! Idaho Master Naturalist Brenda Pace explains some of the common myths behind bats, why these myths are so common, and explains the truth behind bats in this episode.
And there you have it! We love these episodes, and hope you will too. We have put together a playlist of these episodes for your listening pleasure. Enjoy!
